North Texas prepares for Mean Green with several injuries to key players.

Denton, Texas - North Texas starting quarterback Austin Aune will miss the Mean Green's game against Southern Miss on Saturday due to an injury, the school announced on Monday.

Aune suffered a shoulder injury in the Mean Green's 27-13 win over Charlotte on Saturday. He was replaced by sophomore Jaren Lewis, who completed 11 of 19 passes for 105 yards and a touchdown.

In addition to Aune, the Mean Green are also dealing with injuries to nine other players. Running back Isaiah Smith is questionable with an ankle injury, while wide receiver Jaleon Jackson is questionable with a hamstring injury.

North Texas will remain optimistic and prepare

North Texas is 1-3 on the season and will look to improve its record against Southern Miss, who is also 1-3.

The Mean Green will need to find a way to replace Aune's production, who has thrown for 680 yards and six touchdowns this season.

Lewis will likely get the start at quarterback against Southern Miss. He has appeared in three games this season, completing 16 of 28 passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns.
